Every Sunday, my son Zackary, has Sunday school. It is a wonderful program. It is designed specifically for adults with special needs and he loves it. Adults come from all over Chicagoland to attend and though it’s about an hour drive form our house, it’s worth it to see the joy he gets from it.
It also gives my husband and I a good two hours of “couples time” and we use to explore the surrounding area. When the weather is good we bring our dog, get our coffee to go, and enjoy the weather and passersby. Today, we decided to try out Cupola.
Much more than a coffeeshop, it’s more a cafe that offers all day casual dining although coffee and pastries seem to be the biggest draw. Located in Evanston (home of Northwestern University) there was a smattering of students using the free WiFi but a full 2/3 of the people there were having sit down breakfast.
We opted for the lounge area and had coffee and my husband had a blueberry muffin. I thought the coffee was great; he thought the muffin was OK. I loved the atmosphere. It was bright and airy with a lot of seating. It was quite loud but not too loud that you couldn’t hold a conversation.
They have a nice selection of pastries to go too:
